Paraclimbing Exhibition

Paraclimbing Exhibition

The Paraclimbing Exhibition will take place on Day 4 of the routesetting clinic and will serve as both a celebratory close to the event and a living demonstration of the work accomplished throughout the week. Unlike traditional competitions, this will be a non-competitive, community-centered showcase. Athletes will be encouraged to climb freely on 8 to 12 routes developed during the clinic, where collaboration, feedback, and personal achievement are prioritized over ranking or scoring.

The Exhibition will serve multiple purposes: it will allow adaptive athletes to engage meaningfully with the climbs created during the clinic; offer setters the chance to see their work in action and receive real-time feedback; and invite spectators, gym members, and community partners to witness adaptive climbing in an inclusive, emotionally resonant format.

Paraclimbing Categories: Visual Impairment, Neurological / Physical Disability (R/P), Upper Extremity Amputee, Lower Extremity Amputee, Seated, Youth (Under 16 on day of exhibition).

These categories are provided as reference only and are not a hard line for participation. Our exhibition is community focused and open to anyone with a disability who would like to join, regardless of classification.

10:00 AM to 10:30 AM: Check-In and Opening
Athletes check in and the format is explained. Emphasize that this is a non-competitive exhibition meant to celebrate adaptive climbing and the work done throughout the clinic. All climbers will participate in a shared, supportive session.

10:30 AM to 1:30 PM: All Group Climbing Session
Athletes engage in a 3 hour modified redpoint style climbing session. Climbers may attempt as many routes as they like and are encouraged to collaborate, share beta, and support one another. There is no time pressure, scoring, or advancement. This is an open environment for personal challenge and community celebration.

1:30 PM to 2:00 PM: Break and Transition
A short break allows athletes to rest, hydrate, and connect. During this time, the gym can play music, show adaptive climbing videos, or hold informal athlete interviews to keep energy high and the audience engaged.

2:00 PM to 2:30 PM: Community Highlights and Recognition
This segment replaces traditional awards. All athletes are recognized for showing up and giving their best. We may present lighthearted shout-outs such as Most Joyful Beta, Power Move of the Day, or Best Encourager. This is a time to celebrate participation, effort, and presence.

2:30 PM to 2:45 PM: Closing Remarks and Celebration
Offer closing thanks to athletes, setters, volunteers, and sponsors. Encourage connection and reflection.
