Introduction to Organized Youth Climbing (IOYC) is the first step in Sportrock’s progressive Youth Team programs. All athletes in our multi-week programs start with at least one session of IOYC. Over eight weeks, young climbers build a foundation of movement, techniques, and teamwork while discovering the fun and challenge that make climbing so rewarding.
Each week, athletes learn new skills on the wall and in their community, guided by experienced coaches who meet them where they are and help them grow.
After completing IOYC, climbers can continue into our Recreational Club or advance to S1 – Skills Building, where they begin to refine technique and develop confidence. From there, the pathway continues through Team Development and Training Teams, offering a clear and supportive journey for every athlete.
This progressive pathway to development is what make Sportrock youth programs so special. Many of our climbers start in IOYC and stay with the program through high school, supported by coaches who help them build confidence, friendships, and a lifelong love of climbing.
