Last year, Sportrock Climbing Guides ran our first ever Alpine Climbing Expedition to Mt. Baker (also known as Kulshan), and it sold out in a week! We are so thrilled to share this incredible opportunity with our community again in 2026, with 2 expeditions hand-picked for the Sportrock community. If you are looking for a more advanced Alpine Adventure in 2026- check out our El Dorado & Klwatti double header, right after this initial trip!
Mt. Baker is the perfect introduction to glacier travel and mountaineering, in addition to being one of the most recognizable summits in the US. The second-largest glaciated peak in North America, this active volcano is climbed in a 3-day expedition. You’ll learn how to travel on glaciers, protect yourself from crevasses, and more. While it will require training and preparation, this climb doesn’t require specific alpine experience or technical skills. You’ll be guided at a 3:1 ratio, ensuring a high level of support and instruction.
If you’re ready to step it up a level, our second trip this year will attempt to summit 2 peaks- El Dorado, and Klawatti, offering a mix of alpine rock climbing, glacier travel, mountaineering, and more! Given the more technical nature of these routes, you’ll be guided at a 2:1 ratio, ensuring lots of personalized support and instruction. Climbers should have completed, at least, the Mt. Baker climb in 2025 or 2026 to participate, or have similar experience in alpine terrain. Please reach out if you’re not sure if this trip is for you!
This year we are partnered with Cascade Mountain Ascents, a worker-owned mountain guiding cooperative based in Bellingham, WA. CMA seeks to cultivate a caring community of guides, guests, students, and partners who share a love of the mountains and are dedicated to being stewards of these landscapes. Learn more about CMA and meet the team here!
During the actual climb, group gear and meals are included, as are your guides for the climb. In addition, SRCG will host pre-trip clinics to help you prepare. Sessions will include:
